The RC church isn't a charity? Is religion black, white, or grey?

I heard something on the radio. The Pope was given a Lamborghini and he’s auctioning it off with the proceeds going to charity so he signed it to increase its value. Wait a minute! Something is wrong. The RC church isn’t a charity? Why do I put money into the collection basket every Sunday? Oh, it‘s to have a church. It pays for the cost. Okay, I understand that. Now, what about the Vatican? There’s a ton of money there, right? Oh, it’s all tied up in real estate and other things that are worth a lot of money, but aren’t liquid. Let me get this right. The RC church, which has a ton of money, isn’t a charity? I guess not, even the Pope uses charities. What does the church do then? Oh, it acts as an outlet for our spiritual beliefs. I guess that’s charitable. No wonder some people are agnostic or atheistic in this world. As far as I can tell, the practice of religion cost more – literally and figuratively – than it is worth! That says nothing about the atrocities it has been responsible for. There are a lot of them. One is even going on now. One ISIS extremist was quoted as saying, “The blood of the disbelievers is obligatory to spill by default. The command is clear. Kill the disbelievers, as Allah said, ‘Then kill the polytheists wherever you find them’.”
