The Negotiator in Chief?

If you listen to Trump, he negotiated the border security he wanted if you can call it negotiation. He has relied on – at best – a very dubious proclamation! He’d almost have you believe he got what he wanted, but he didn’t – a far cry from it. He wanted 5 or 6 billion dollars for a border wall or barrier or whatever this year – his request changed as he started to feel the heat. Nonetheless for someone who believes he is the best deal maker in the world, he failed miserably and Pelosi won the game!

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why. Trump has latched onto an antiquated idea. He has said you need a wall or a physical barrier of some sort. That’s unbelievable! The walls that exist are riddled with tunnels. Most drugs coming into the U.S. do not come through the uncontrolled parts of the border between the U.S. and Mexico, but rather through other ports of entry like airports, ship yards, other controlled parts of the border, or the mail – reportedly about 90%. What is Trump talking about? I don’t know, but as he indicated he’s giving the democrats one last chance to come up with the money or he’s going to declare a national emergency and he did even though just this weekend a whole bunch of former national security officials (58 of them) disagree with his proclamation and premise!

There’s a horrible situation in Venezuela. VP Pence will be there. Trump is going to see the person he “loves”, Kim Jong Un of North Korea. The Administration has changed its tune. Total denuclearization is no longer so critical or so it seems even if Trump went back to saying it is. Trump has changed his outlook or has he? Who knows. Just last weekend, Trump indicated that everything is alright as long as North Korea doesn’t test any nuclear missiles! Maybe, they don’t have to! That's what I would worry about if I were Trump.

At least, we agree on something! There is a national emergency! He’s the President!
