I’m starting this blog exactly the same as my last one. It should tell you something!!! I can’t believe what we have come to. Has everything we stand for gone down the toilet? It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with all the disasters going on around us!

Earlier this month, it was moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem. On Christmas Eve, Guatemala followed suit. If I remember correctly, Guatemala supported the creation of Israel and it was of a handful of nations to back the US when the UN overwhelming denounced the US’ recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. So did Israel – surprise!!! Needless to say, this has the Palestinians protesting in the streets. What it does for a two state solution, I don’t know, but it does nothing to continue down that path. The Palestinians were worried about being disenfranchised before and now this. They must be really worried now! The US had a party for those who supported their position or abstained from voting when the UN held their vote.

Now, we can move to the US and North Korea conflict. The United States was successful at the UN to increase sanctions against North Korea even farther at the UN. The resolution was initially designed to accomplish six major goals: cap North Korea's oil imports, ban textile exports, end additional overseas laborer contracts, suppress smuggling efforts, stop joint ventures with other nations and sanction designated North Korean government entities, according to a US official familiar with negotiations. However, The US took out some language which would have made it even harder, if not impossible, to get a vote by the Security Council. Kim Jong Un has called the sanctions tantamount to a declaration of war against his country promising punishment and this is just after North Korea launched a nuclear weapon capable of reaching the US.

I would categorize both moves by the US as bullying. The second one could have far reaching consequences I fear because Jong Un hasn’t shown himself as much of diplomat either.

I’ll repeat the title and say, “Holy smokes!!! Unbelievable”!!!
